Application Process

Our staff is always there to guide and support you, every step of the application process.

Pre-Application

If you would like to apply and if you have spoken with your parents about your plans, simply click on the Pre-apply online button and follow the easy steps. This will get the process started!

Application Package

As soon as we receive your pre-application form, we will send you an application package. These forms will request information from you which will help us match you with a host family.

Interview

Within a few couple of days you'll be invited to interview with an EF representative bear to your hometown. This is a great time for you and your parents to find out what EF High School Year Overseas is all about. Interviews are set up in all states in Australia and are the perfect way to get to know each other.
The interview is not a test, however, we would like to get to know you better before accepting you on the program. Most of our interviewers have been on exchange themselves and perfectly know what it's like to be an exchange student.

Acceptance

Soon after the interview our Sydney staff will let you know whether you've been accepted to the program. We consider all aspects of your personality, maturity as well as your school grades.

Pre-departure information

After you've been accepted, we will help prepare you for your exciting year abroad! There will be regular information packages which travel tips, culture camp and visa information plus lots of other useful tips on your exchange and your host country. Before departure, you'll also attend our EF orientation meeting.

Language & Culture Camp

This is a great way to learn more about your host country, make some of your first friends abroad and take a trip to an exciting city in your new country. Want to know more?

Throughout the Year

Local EF representatives will check in monthly to see how things are going. Feel free to call them whenever you'd like to chat or discuss a problem. Find out other students' experiences in the EF newsletter or even submit your own news.

Back in Australia

You'll receive the EF Diploma of Student Exchange. This certifies that you have successfully completed a cultural exchange program while gaining maturity and valuable skills. This, along with your improved confidence, is a step ahead in your future career or academic plans. You'll also have the opportunity to share your experiences with perspective students at information meetings or interviews.
